FAQ
Information about our different pans
SCANPAN pans are made from processed raw materials such as stainless steel, recycled aluminium or – if you choose the unique Maitre D' series – copper. By using recycled aluminium, we reduce both energy consumption and waste. SCANPAN pans also retain heat exceptionally well, allowing you to cook at lower temperatures. This uses less energy and makes it easier to achieve excellent results without the risk of food burning.
The selected materials give our pans outstanding qualities, including fast, even heat distribution without hot spots. Combined with our production techniques, the materials ensure that SCANPAN pots and pans retain their shape – and that the base remains flat – even when used on gas hobs and in ovens and barbecues up to 250°C. This opens up a wealth of possibilities that you will not find with cookware from other manufacturers.
Choose a pan from one of our non-stick cookware ranges and you will get a unique coating. The coating creates a surface with very special properties – resilient, easy to clean and highly durable. You can therefore fry without fat and without food burning, use metal utensils and even finish the washing-up in no time.
Our pans are extremely robust and can withstand a great deal. You can help give your SCANPAN pan a long and useful life by treating it properly.
A non-stick pan – for example from our Classic series – should always be heated slowly to prevent overheating. Repeated overheating may impair the non-stick effect, causing food to begin sticking during frying and searing. We recommend cooking at approximately two-thirds heat. Higher heat is unnecessary because SCANPAN products retain heat so effectively and distribute it exceptionally evenly.
SCANPAN non-stick pans are dishwasher-safe, but we recommend washing them by hand in hot water with washing-up liquid. This extends the lifespan of your pans and helps preserve the non-stick effect.
