Our nonstick coatings
Over the years, the experts at our factory in Ryomgård have developed two different nonstick coatings, which we now use on all our nonstick cookware.
- Stratanium® – an excellent coating
- Stratanium®+ – a truly extraordinary coating
Nonstick in use
Most damage to a nonstick coating is caused by overheating the product. This will reduce the nonstick effect over time. Read the guide here or watch the video further down the page to learn how to get the most out of your nonstick product.
Before first use: Remove all labels. Wash the product in warm, soapy water with a nylon brush, cloth or sponge and dry it.
During use: The product should only be used for preparing and serving food. Take care not to overheat the product, as this will reduce the nonstick effect.
Frying with fat:
- Heat the product to frying temperature over medium heat for a few minutes, then add the desired fat.
- Avoid extreme temperatures and overheating – do not fry at the highest heat setting. It is unnecessary, and you risk burning the oil into the coating and damaging it over time. A cold pan may also warp if placed directly on a hob that is too hot.
- Do not use aerosol sprays on nonstick cookware. Oil from aerosol cans burns at lower temperatures, increasing the risk of damage to your nonstick product.
Fat-free frying:
- Heat the product to frying temperature over medium heat for a few minutes, after which you can start frying.
Care and cleaning of nonstick
Incorrect cleaning is another way your nonstick product may become damaged. Watch the video further down the page or read this guide for correct cleaning and care.
Cleaning and care
- The product is easiest to clean while it is still warm, but should be left to cool for about 5 minutes before being washed in warm water with washing-up liquid.
- No cold water on a hot pan – never pour cold water onto a hot pan or pot, as this may warp the base.
- Always use washing-up liquid – always wash your nonstick products in warm water with washing-up liquid. The product must be completely clean. Otherwise, the nonstick effect may deteriorate over time.
- Never use a metal scouring pad or scouring powder to clean your pot or pan. The product must be completely clean and dry before you put it away.
- Some wear may become visible on the coating during use. This is normal and does not affect the nonstick effect.
Dishwasher
You can wash your nonstick products in the dishwasher. However, this is not recommended as it reduces the lifespan of the product.
How to save a pot or pan with burnt-on food
You do not need to use a lot of elbow grease or harsh cleaning agents if food has burnt onto your cookware. The following is not a complete list of cleaning methods, but offers a few alternatives that do not require expensive equipment or, in the worst case, a new pot.
Laundry detergent:
- Pour a little water (about 200 ml) into the bottom of the pot or pan and add a small amount of laundry detergent, using the same product you normally use in your washing machine
- Place it on the hob and bring the mixture to the boil. Let it boil for about 10 minutes; longer will not give a better result
- Then clean the cookware as normal with water and washing-up liquid
- If burnt-on residue remains on the base, remove it with a scouring pad
Dishwasher detergent: Dishwasher detergent, whether tablets or powder, is stronger than ordinary washing-up liquid. A dishwasher tablet may therefore dissolve food residue that ordinary detergent cannot remove.
- Pour about 200 ml of water into the pot and add one dishwasher tablet
- Boil for about 10 minutes; longer will not give a better result.
- Then clean the cookware with water and ordinary liquid washing-up detergent for hand washing. A scouring pad may be useful.
