FAQ
About our grill pans
Unlike a conventional frying pan, a grill pan has ridges that collect fat and channel juices away, so meat grills rather than cooking in its own liquid. The ridges concentrate the heat, create a barbecue flavour and give food its characteristic chargrilled lines. Try our Professional grill pan with extra-high ridges for optimum use of heat.
A grill pan is ideal for cooking a good steak, but it also works well with many other foods:
- Burgers
- Salmon steaks
- Vegetables
- Chicken
- Prawns
- Duck breast
In short, a grill pan belongs in the kitchen of anyone who loves good food.
Some cooks swear by cast-iron grill pans. A SCANPAN nonstick grill pan offers many of the same benefits without the extra maintenance.
A SCANPAN grill pan does not need seasoning with oil. Its unique nonstick coating lets you cook without added fat, without food sticking. The surface is highly durable and easy to clean. Our range includes grill pans for induction and other hob types.
SCANPAN aluminium grill pans are considerably lighter than comparable cast-iron pans. Together with the ergonomic handles, this makes everyday cooking easier. Cleaning is quick with warm water and washing-up liquid.
- Fast, even heat distribution without hot spots
- Retains heat for longer
- Ovenproof up to 250 °C
- Metal-utensil safe and made for lasting use
- Several of our grill pans are suitable for induction
Although heat matters when frying, the pan does not need to be smoking hot at the start. Always heat nonstick cookware gradually to avoid overheating and damaging the coating. A SCANPAN grill pan retains heat so well that we recommend cooking at around two-thirds heat.
If food residue does burn on, let the pan cool, add cold water and washing-up liquid, then bring it to the boil until the residue loosens. The grill pan will then be easy to clean.
