How best to store your kitchen knives

When you reach for a sharp kitchen knife at home, do you open a drawer where the knives are jumbled together with a garlic press, cheese slicer and egg slicer? Are they hanging on a magnetic rack on the wall? Or standing in a stylish knife block on the worktop?

If you reach into the kitchen drawer, it is time to change your knife-storage habits. Never store sharp knives loose in a drawer. This can dull and damage the blades, and there is also a real risk of cutting yourself while looking for the knife you need.

Choose a magnetic rack or knife block

Sharp knives belong on a magnetic rack or in a knife block rather than loose in a kitchen drawer. Both options provide safe, practical storage that keeps the knives accessible and helps extend their service life.
