Creative cooking with SCANPAN’s blinis pan

Blinis for all meals

You can use the blinis pan to make blinis for all meals of the day.

There are three basic methods to prepare and serve a blini, which you can use as a starting point:

  1. As it is – try adding a little grated apple or potato to the batter.
  2. With honey or jam spread on top.
  3. With stuffing of fruit, chicken, fish, chopped and fried vegetables, or whatever you may prefer.

A pan with a history

Blinis are believed to originate from Russia where they were seen as a symbol of the sun because of their round shape. Since then, blinis have spread to most of the world, and many different ways of preparing and serving the little pancake-like bread have come to be.

Recipe

If you feel like experimenting with different kinds of blinis yourself, here is a good basic recipe you can follow:

(approx. 9 pcs.)

  • 225 g wheat flour
  • 75 buckwheat flour
  • 2 tsp baing powder
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 4 tbsp oil
